Pssst…when traveling, listen to the locals’ little tips and tricks and actually do them!

One of our tour bus driver’s in New Zealand informed us to drive up to Glenorchy because of the scenic drive. So the next day, off we went from Queenstown to Glenorchy.

We were only a couple of days into New Zealand. Still scared of driving on the right hand side of the road. Still wondering if our GPS would work (Hint: choose a spot on Google maps and set it to “offline”, and you should be able to GPS without internet). Still wondering what our next move is.

I have to say, out of our three week long New Zealand/Australia adventure, the drive to Glenorchy was one of my favorite moments. It was about two hours long of breathtaking views. On the left is gorgeous blue water with snowcapped mountains as the backdrop. On the right are lush green hills. We couldn’t stop taking our GoPro out and filming the entire thing! Unfortunately, videos just don’t do the view any justice. You HAVE to be there to feel it.

Glenorchy itself is a little humble town. This is where we first saw one of many of New Zealand’s skate parks right next to the beach. New Zealand has skate parks every where! They really encourage adventure┬áthere!

We parked right by the beach and started cooking in our camper van. It was super windy, so cooking was a challenge! This was hands down, the best view I’ve ever had while camp cooking!

We ate right by the beach.

On our way back, we were able to stop by this little garden on the side of the road, called “Little Paradise”. It was all kinds of whimsical! I’ve never been to a garden so unique! Some parts look pristine and untouched. They did an amazing job making the decor look organic. Whoever decorated this placed an importance of the beauty that nature naturally brings.

We had our first impromptu stop by the side of the road. Unexpectedly having this beach all to ourselves was magical. Thank YOU, Universe! We felt like New Zealand’s nature welcomed us with open arms! The mountains were grand. Large, rocky, jagged, seemingly ominous and threatening, but there was this welcoming warmth to it at the same time! Much like how all of New Zealand felt! Like there was imminent danger to come in your adventure into its wild beauty! But it’s so beautiful, you HAVE to take that adventure or you’ll miss out! And guess what? The adventure wasn’t dangerous at all!

Watch out for the sand flies though! You gotta take the good with the bad!

Not going to lie, the water was cold! It wasn’t quite summer just, yet! But I can stay here forever with the afternoon breeze! Zzzzzz….
